DESIGNING YOUR HOME

Great Designs for Less

The design phase is one of the most exciting parts of building a new home—you get to put your personal touch on your new home! We want to make sure you get a home that fits your lifestyle. In our first meeting, we would provide you with a summary of the design process. Begin thinking about your style and design needs.

Interior Design

It's never too early to think about your flooring and additional features you or your family may require—fireplace, cabinetry, and more. Start creating portfolios or lists of ideas you like.

Exterior Design

Do you have a particular style of home that you want? Start paying attention to the details on homes that you see—what do you like about them, and what you don't like. Using different colors, textures, and materials can dramatically change the look of your home. Great landscaping can also significantly increase the livability and value of your property. With Hawthorne Custom Homes, not only will you be able to access a digital rendering of your home design, you will also be able to see what your new home exterior will look like. Once you have an idea of your floorplan requirements, we can complete up to three different designs for the exterior of your home. (We also welcome your own recommendations, of course.)

Kitchen & Bath Design

Kitchens and bathrooms are considered by many to be the most important areas of the home. They are definitely rooms where it is important to get your requirements right. Take the time to look for cabinets and countertops that you like—it's important to get the right style, color, and wood. The finishing touches are also important. What style of pulls do you want? Do you want a backsplash? Are there any specific appliances you want?

Lighting & Electrical

Lighting is often overlooked until the last minute. But don't wait until you're picking out fixtures to discuss it. Thinking about lighting beforehand allows your lighting needs to be addressed properly. Task lighting, under-cabinet lighting, or accent lighting can add considerably to the atmosphere of a home. Exterior lighting is often overlooked as well, but it can drastically enhance your curb appeal. Or, think about adding a home theater, whole house audio, or even exterior speakers. The possibilities are almost endless.

Pre-Designed Floorplans

We offer a fine selection of pre-existing floorplans from which to select. These can be used as your final design or as a foundation for additional changes designed to meet your needs more thoroughly. These current designs include:
  • Rambler
  • Two Story
  • Bi-Level
  • Town Home
  • Twin Home
